Cute Kids

Just a few extra pictures of Dylan. Dylan in the the stroller at the redwoods and him showing of his footy team and cute pictures of Luke, Olga's son and Eleni and Olga.

New Zealand part 1

Well it was a long trip to get to Rotorua, but well worth it, 12 hrs from LA to Aukland then another short comuter flight to Rotorua. Dylan was great on the plane, he slept a lot, but had a few times where he wasn't too happy, but we worked it all out. The weather has been great here in so as soon as we arrived and got settled we were out for a walk in the Redwood forest. Have been having a great time with Paul, Olga, Eleni and Luke. Luke and Dylan have been entertaining each other, it is very cute to see all the children together. Today we went for another walk around the Government gardens and Museum and enjoyed the beautiful crisp days.

Dylan's big Adventure

Started our Adventure with a brunch with Daddy before we headed off on the first Leg of our travels. Since we were leaving before fathers day, it was nice that we could spend some time together enjoying a family outing. The first leg was a stop over in LA to visit with Lisa and Greg. First long flight went well, not too much drama at all. Sammy and Emily (the pugs) were not too sure about Dylan they certainly steered clear when he was crying. We enjoyed a long walk along the beach and then spent some time with Lisa's family in the afternoon before heading off to catch the plane to NZ.

Trip to Wisconsin

We were off on our trip to WI to see Les's family last weekend. Dylan is clearly a flying pro, he seemed to enjoy his first flight, chatting and just chilling out, it must have been all those flights that I did while I was pregnant. It was a great trip, Dylan got to meet his Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents, I think he managed to charm them all. We also had Dylan't baptism which went really well, Dylan was the classic baby, crying through the ceramony, but all said and done it went pretty smoothly. Les and I were also able to catch up with some old friends which is always great.

Hike and Winery trip

Enjoying the nice weather last week, myself Dylan and some of the other mothers went for a a picnic and walk at Sugarloaf Mountain. It was a fun day, pretty intersting to try to get 5 babies, fed, changed and ready for a hike all at the same time, well almost at the same time, but it all worked out and we had a great walk. After the hike we were able to stop off at the Sugarloaf Winery and enjoyed a glass of wine and yes I did have a bottle (not of wine) for Dylan after my glass of wine. I think the winery was surprised to see 5 babies there all at the same time, but they were very accomodating.

Mothers Day

My first Mothers day was a very nice one: Dylan gave me a nice card, hand written apparently, maybe with a little help from Dad, he also picked out some nice CD's and a DVD, that I think he will enjoy with me. We had a lovely family brunch, enjoyed the sunshine and was able to relax for a few hours. Dylan loves getting out and about, sleeps through most of it as you can see from the pictures. Dylan and I then followed up with a lovely walk around the lakes near home and enjoyed some of the spring flowers.

A good day for a ride

Got the bike out on Sunday - Michelle and Dylan followed me to Sugarloaf Mountain (hill?) where I road around some of the dirt roads, Michelle and the man-cub took a walk and we met up for a picnic lunch. Capped the day off with a glass of wine at a local vineyard.

Mount Vernon

We had a nice day out at George Washington's Plantation "Mt Vernon." Michelle packed a lunch and we loaded up the little man. He didn't seem to mind (slept most of the day). We bought year-long passes last year and it's payed off - much to see on George's property. We usually avoid the lines for the house tour and wander around the gardens and farm. On this trip I spotted an Osprey with a freshly caught fish (right talon). (Thanks to Deggz for the Birds of Prey Recce from the other side of the planet!)

Abe

Abe is all the rage in DC these days - from the Emancipation Proclamation to the White House I guess there's a bit of symbolism there.

Our first family trip into DC

We went down to see the Cherry Blossoms in bloom today. Big crowds but very beautiful. Dylan seemed to enjoy the fresh air - although he slept through most of it.

Dylan (the Younger) Live!

I saw Bob Dylan live in Portsmouth Virginia (mid-1990's). This one is better (enjoy).

Dylan Brody Spanheimer (b. 5:03pm 12 March 2009)

Welcome Dylan!

We're just back from the hospital. After a fairly easy pregnancy (Michelle's words!) and a quick delivery (she started pushing around 5pm, a couple minutes later...) a few complications set in. But, all is well and we're the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy. Dylan Brody Spanheimer was born at 5:03 on Thursday 12 March. He was 6 lbs 14 oz and 21 inches long. Perfectly healthy, looking great, though I'm not sure where he gets those chubby cheeks!

You can see a running slideshow of our first photos on the upper right side of the blog (click on the photo and you'll be directed to another site which has bigger versions of the photos). Enjoy!
